Fact Family Find
This is a math game that can be used in an activating strategy when teaching addition and subtraction related facts.
The game includes: 1 page of instructions for the teacher
17 sets of fact family cards
How to play the game:
Copy the cards onto cardstock and laminate
Keep the cards in sets
Have students stand. Hand each student 1 card (they do not show their card).
Start any kind music of your choice and after a few seconds stop the music and say, "Find your Family!"
The students go around and find the addition and/or subtraction facts that relate to theirs.
When a group of 4 students have found their fact family and are grouped together, they sit down.
After everyone has found their "family", they can discuss what makes their equations a fact family.
The students love playing this in my classroom!
They love to get up and move and it keeps them very engaged!
