Here is a set of FREE subitizing cards you can use whole group with your class to work on number sense and quickly identifying sets of objects.
These cards have different dot representations for the numbers 0-10. I simply hold a card up and the kids show me the number using their fingers held up in front of them. (Or sometimes we just yell out the answer!)
These could also be used as "Quick Image" cards. You would hold up the card for a couple of seconds while the students study it. Put the card down while they recreate the dot pattern on their desks with manipulatives, then show the card again so they can check their work.
Both of these activities allow the students to practice seeing patterns in numbers and being able to quickly identify amounts in sets without having to count each individual dot.

Sometimes we just have to make math fun for our students! Here's one way to practice those multiplication facts (up to 6 x 6) with a partner and have fun at the same time.
This Penguin Dice Game requires two dice and some game tokens. That's it! My students love playing this with a partner. It is just one simple tool that helps lead to the fluency/automaticity/memorization that is required in third grade by the Common Core State Standards. Of course, it can be used for review in other grades, as well!
The game comes in both color and black and white. I like to print the color ones and place them in plastic page protectors. (When you do this, you can use two colors of dry erase markers instead of game tokens.) Then I leave them at a math center, or use them for early finishers. I hope you enjoy this free penguin partner multiplication dice game!
This Free Multiplication Dice Game is part of a larger product, my Multiplication Memorization Tool Kit, 100+ pages of multiplication magic! You can check it out by clicking http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Multiplication-Memorization-Tool-Kit-1585420

Making data collection part of your daily routine is easy with these graphing cards. Students will take a genuine interest because they will get to cast their vote on a regular basis to a variety of kid friendly questions. Each survey question comes with 2-4 picture choices making it easy for you to differentiate according to the needs of your students.
The graphing questions and choices are designed to fit in a rectangular pocket chart (approximately 12 x 30 – chart not included), but can also be displayed just as easily on a board using magnetic tape. The students cast their vote by placing a small colored rectangle above their choice. Check out the picture in the preview to see exactly what I mean.
How I Use This Product:
Display the question and choices either on the board or in a pocket chart. Each day choose 5-10 students to cast their votes and then interpret the results as a class. Because new students get to cast their votes each day, the graph is constantly changing and can be reinterpreted everyday. To create the opportunity for higher level questioning, have your boys cast their vote using a different color than the girls. Once everyone has had a chance to vote, it’s time to choose a new question! Would you prefer to a different graphing question each day? Check out my Daily Graphing Questions Bundle which contains 195 questions!
I have also included a printable graphing worksheet that you be used in conjunction with these cards. The worksheet is designed to be used with any of the graphing questions and requires that the students use the data collected by their classmates to create a tally chart, a bar graph, a picture graph and then finally to use their math thinking to write about their graphs and the data that was collected. This is a great way to occasionally assess the students’ understanding.
